Juicyness
Hello all! Haven't blogged in a while...betcha thought I quit juicing. Nope. Not me. I have had my moments of imperfection though trust me. Like the night I ate a slice of pizza at my daughter's birthday party (best bites of pizza EVER) and the Mexican food I've eaten a couple times (SO FREAKIN DELICIOUS!) and the salad I ate the other night (Dang I LOVE salad). I have made the decision not to beat myself up over any of this. I have spent a good bit of time beating myself up over food (among other things) and I am choosing not to do that anymore. Why? Well, because I like food. Actually, that's a lie. I LOVE FOOD!!!!! I think most people do, they just don't admit it. Think about it, most of us eat when we're happy (think: celebration over an accomplishment, or a birthday...), when we're sad (think: breakup ice cream, funeral food...). So no more of the beating up on myself stuff. But the juicing...now the juicing still continues. I am obsessed with it now. I look on Pinterest for new juicing ideas ...okay I look there for non juicing ideas also...like this and thisssss and most definitely THIS!!!!!!! I search blogs for juicing advice also. This has produced some delicious juices...and some total flops...like last week when I found a juice recipe that was SUPPOSED to taste like apple pie...but the blogger LIED because although it tasted good...it did not satisfy my apple pie craving. HMPH! Anywho I'm still pluggin away...and I've lost 22 pounds...which not a soul can even tell but me. That's okay though. It'll happen eventually.
Here is my lunch.......
Spinach, red grapes, blueberries, green apple, celery and a couple clementines...SO DELISH!
Also, I've had a few friends show some interest in juicing. Some try it and some give up because it's difficult to stick to. I want to tell those friends that I love you, whether you juice or not and that my journey to health may not be your journey. I also want you to know that it is okay to juice and eat. Plenty of folks do it. Some folks juice during the day and eat dinner. So, don't give up if it's something you really want. Keep keepin' on!...or should I say juicin' on! LOL

Mean Green...
So I made some Mean Green this morning. Many folks swear by this juice. I swear that I won't drink it again til my juicer comes in. It's pretty tasty...it's also MEGA PULPY!!! Now I like a lot of pulp...but not this much! I'm pretty sure I'll have to chase this with coffee. But, it has all sorts of yummy nutrients in it...and the taste is pretty good...so I'm going to drink it.
Mean Green contains kale, lemon, green apples, cucumber, celery and ginger. So you know it's got to be good for you.
Look how purty...
I like to use a pretty glass...makes it more palatable to drink. :)
For dinner tonight I think I'm going to try a juice with tomatoes, garlic, cilantro, jalapeno and maybe some red onion.....hoping it'll soothe this MAJOR craving I'm having for Mexican food!

BLEH!
I have officially made the first smoothie/juice I do not like. It looks so pretty that I must share a picture...
I've read about the benefits of beets. They all say something like this...Beets have a unique phytonutrient profile different from many other antioxidant-rich vegetables. They are a unique source of phytonutrients called betalains, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and detoxification properties, and help detoxify our bodies. Detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, phytonutrients....sounds like something I NEED! I love beets in a salad so why not in a smoothie/juice? Ummmmm...bleh! I am still trying to choke it down. The juice I made consisted of 1 beet, 1 carrot, 1 orange, 1/2 cup red grapes, 1/2 cup green tea and a teeny bit of ginger. I'm thinking I should have used half of a beet and another orange and more carrots and maybe 1/2 a grapefruit. I'm going to try that next time. This taste like dirt in a glass. :(
In other news I think juicing has helped me beet this flu and sinus infection more quickly! I feel tired but much better than I have before when I've had this. Woohooo!
Okay, think I'll dump this glass and try again. :)

FLU...Not.Cool.
I have the flu...and a sinus infection...and yesterday I was pretty sure I needed to be put out of my misery. I drank no juice...no smoothie...water and sprite. But I survived thanks to the doc and the 2 shots he gave me and all the meds he prescribed. Still feeling awful today...but less deathlike. I've made myself a yummy juice this morning of blueberries, raspberries, oranges adn ginger(bleh...ginger and I are not friends...so it was the teeny tiniest little bit of ginger)...I figured the vitamin C would be good for me. I also weighed...I've lost 3 more pounds...which may not count since I've been sick...but I take my losses where I can! :)
Also, I've learned that my blending is somewhat frowned upon in the juicing community. I did not know this until I jouned a group for juicers the other day...they were not exactly happy with my blending choice...basically told me I was tempting all of them to blend..blahblahblahblah. So if you are wanting any info on "true" juicing...apparently I'm not the person to ask...me and my negative 8 pound self. LOL
Anywho...here's picture of my breakfast...
I'm going back to bed...

3rd Day is a Charm...
So I made it through day two...decided not to add protein powder because the idea is to cleanse the body of all the junk and I've got plenty of junk to cleanse...plus if I did add the protien powder I'd always wonder what would have happened if I hadn't. The hunger went away eventually...I drank a ton of water yesterday and that seemed to help. This morning I stepped on the scales and the most amazing thing has happened...I'VE LOST 5 POUNDS!!!! Very excited about that!!!!
This is what my breakfast looked like before. This morning I'm having carrot, celery, pineapple juice.
And this is after it's all blended up. I have to say it's very yummy! And as you can see, if you are a person who's on the go...or like me slow starting in the morning...you can buy fruits and veggies that are already cut up to make things quicker and more convenient.
Oh, also I wanted to clarify something. I'm not using a juicer. My juicer is messed up. I'm using a blender, and I've discovered I like it much better. The clean up is easier and I feel like I'm getting more of the fiber from my fruits and veggies, plus I like the texture of my juices...it's more pulpy and more filling.

Fat, Sick and Nearly Starving
It is day two of my juicing experience. I am very hungry and I think I'm going to have to hide all of my friends on Facebook because they all seem to like yummy foods and feel the need to post pictures of said foods TODAY...also I can't look at Pinterest because there are about 5,769,222 recipes on there that I need to try RIGHT NOW!!! A friend of mine suggested adding protein powder to my juices...I may do that...but Joe didn't do that and I feel like that will take away from the authenticity of the reboot.....Hmmmmmmmmm....
I have a lot more energy. I worked out twice yesterday! Go me! That's definitely a plus!
Here's my breakfast. Mango, carrot, grapefruit, strawberry, pineapple, orange, celery juice...DEELISH!

Slurrrrrrrping My Way Healthy
I recently watched a documentary called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" and it really has me thinking about making some changes. I already work out, which we all know is good for us. I don't eat much red meat or fast food...I also don't get nearly enough fruits and veggies. This man, Joe Cross gave up food for sixty days. 60 DAYS PEOPLE!!!!!!!! Instead of eating food he drank juices that he juiced himself from fruits and veggies. He lost weight and was able to get off of all sorts of medicine...he basically rebooting his body. He also started a juicing FRENZY!!!! All sorts of people are posting about their experiences...it's amazing and inspiring. Hmmmmmm....I'm down. Not sure that I can commit to sixty days...but starting today, I am commiting to ten. Ten seems like an exceptionally long time to me at the moment. Of course Friday is my daughter's birthday party...and I will most likely eat a piece of birthday cake which is my WEAKNESS!!!! Other than that, juice and water it is for ten days. Anyone wanna join me?
Here's my breakfast, strawberry, apple, orange juice...
It's pretty deelish.
Cheers!

Cheers to 2012
We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called “Opportunity” and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.
Edith L. Pierce
Here's to a new year of opportunity and everything good! I have been partaking in a little wine tonight and it's made me all reminiscent! My goal is to make it to see the ball drop...something I've explained to my kids about 20 times tonight and they still don't get it....my explanation goes something like this..."In New York they have this place called Time Square...they erect this huge thing there with a ball on it that's covered in lights and crystals....it counts down the minutes til midnight and when it's midnight the ball drops and everyone sings and kisses and they throw confetti. (I think this is quite a good explanation)...Their response..."WHY?" I have no answer for this!!!! "Why?" Ummmmm... BECAUSE!
I rock as a Mom...I swear I do! :)
Anyway, I digress...Happy New Year my lovelies! I wish nothing but wonderful things for you!!! Tomorrow we can talk about resolutions. Tonight enjoy your wine, your champagne, your sweet tea or what have you!

Bad Toys...
I've been thinking about something...actually I think about it every year after Christmas...and in December when it's Peanut's Birthday and TwinkleToes' Birthday...I also think about it when my friend's kids have birthdays...BAD TOYS all parents know what I'm talking about. We've all experienced it...heck sometimes we've even bought them!as payback for the bad toy someone bought our kid So I am officially starting a list. Use this list as a reference for toys NOT to buy your kids or anyone else's unless you don't like someone and would like to torture them...then buy away. Feel free to add to my list as you see fit...and share this post so that everyone knows about the bad toy conspiracy!!! Below you will see pictures of toys I loathe...and perhaps reasons for the loathing...
The ad pitch is "Way cooler than earth sand, Moon Sand is the moldable sand that never dries out!"...PEOPLE IT IS SAND!!!! You know the only drawback of the beach? SAND It's gets in places it shouldn't!!! So does this!!!! Beware of the Moon Sand...unless you don't mind bringing the beach into your kitchen/dining room/bathroom/everydangwhere!
Perhaps I should just say avoid all toys with the name Moon or Sand in them...these two are HORRIBLE as well!!!!!
Baby Alive!!! Every little girl needs at least a hundred baby dolls! I firmly believe this...HOWEVER, every little girl DOES NOT need a baby doll that pees/poos and eats! Inevitably you will run out of diapers after it's consumed some banana smelling substance.
Paperoni...Think a paper explosion in your dining room...or wherever this box is opened!
I'm sure as soon as I click publish I will think of 5,926 more toys! But here's a start.

SNOW and Resolutions...
I am the first to admit I am a blogging slacker! It's been over a month since I've blogged! So much has happened. Christmas was fabulous! I have some great pictures of the kiddos to share. Santa was very very good to them! New Year's Eve was so much fun. No pictures to post of that...they could be dangerous! (lol) Anywho, it's snowing here and it's so beautiful! I feel like I'm inside a snow globe and I love it! Almost makes me wish we lived somewhere where it snowed often, like Colorado or Vermont...so pretty.!!!
Okay, so next subject. Resolutions. I hear lots of people saying that they think they are a waste of time...I disagree. I think Louisa May Alcott said it best, "Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead." Resolutions to me are a sign to me that we still have something to aspire for...something greater. With that being said I'm going to give you my resolutions.
1) Start a gratuity journal.
I think sometimes I lose sight of how blessed I truly am. I plan on using this to remind myself.
2) Continue my quest to become healthy.
I began this quest last June and have become addicted to the gym! I LOVE the gym and I LOVE
working out! I feel like I am missing something on the days that I don't do some exercise.
3) Yell less and count to ten more.
Being a single Mom is stressful. I am the first to admit I raise my voice too often.
4) Do some things to make me happy.
Pretty self explanatory.
5) Learn to use Photoshop.
I received Photoshop for Christmas now I need a book to learn how to use it...it's a lot more
complicated than I thought it would be.
I'll keep you posted on how the resolutions go.

"Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love."
I would love nothing more this Christmas than to see the people in my little world get caught up in this conspiracy of love. I've decided that in this spirit I'm going to do my own little version of "pay it forward". How wonderful a world would it be if everyone tried to be more kind, more considerate, more sincencere? I challenge you to incorporate this "pay it forward" process into your life and see where it takes you.
Also, I have found the most amazing international aid organization, it's called Wine to Water. Check this site out.

Comedy and Tragedy...also known as my attempt at taking Pictures of B&B
Thanksgiving Day I once again attempted to take pictures of the kids....and I am here to tell you it was yet another failed attempt. Why oh why can they not both smile and look "normal" at the same time? I have become obsessed with a free photo editing program called Picasa. I am dying to edit some amazing pictures! Instead, I get this....my own live version of Comedy and Tragedy.
